By 2020, water shortage will be a serious worldwide
problem. Our
water resources will not be sufficient.
So, an
environmental approach is not only a good thing,
it is
essential if we want our children to have water when
they grow up.
The average family in the US and Canada uses more than 1600
cubic meters of water per year. This is 6,400 tons of water for a family of
four…That's twice as much water as the average family in France, three times
as much as the average German, almost four times as much as the average Swede
and more than eight times as much as the average Dane. Our per capita water
consumption is 65% above the world average.
At this rate, our water supplies (mainly ground-level sources)
will not be able to support our growing needs and expanding population. While
this is a sad reality about the way we live and consume water, there is
something we can do to change this.
